Here are 7 tips to help make your trade show a success.
1. Arrive at the show with a great positive attitude. Smile a lot. Don’t be thinking it’s going to be a long day on a hard uncomfortable concrete floor.
2. Greet and welcome attendees to your booth. Make them feel comfortable and encourage them to asks questions about your product and services.
3. Have the right people staff your booth. Make sure your booth staff wants to be there and represent your company well. They must be informative and able to interact easily with people. Nothing worse than walking by a booth and seeing someone sitting in a chair slumped over reading their cell phone or laptop. This will not create business for you and you see it over and over at shows.
4. Stop and listen to people when they come to your booth. Don’t bore them with your canned “elevator speech”. Let the guests speak!
5. All booth staff should dress similar so attendees know who they need to speak too. Nothing worse than having an attendee in your booth and they end up asking your competitor standing in your booth questions about products and services (This can really happen especially in larger booths).
6. Be sure your team is promoting the right product at the show and can answer all questions about that product. It’s not good when that longtime holdout appears in your booth and wants information and someone on your team can’t provide him with the information he needs and wants.
7. Enjoy the event! Make it fun for you and your team! Have team contests or incentives for your team. Make it fun for clients and prospects too! Do something MEMORABLE so the prospect will remember you from your competitor three aisles over.
