Although our Houston trade show experts primarily specialize in trade show booth design, we are often asked how members who are at the booth should look, specifically where dress is concerned. We don’t have to tell you that it’s important for everyone who is staffing your booth to look their best – however, it is entirely possible that you may have to! These days, many employees need to be reminded that the trade show is not a vacation; it’s an event at which they are representatives of the company.
In terms of appearance, make sure your employees understand what you expect of them when it comes to their:
Hair: Do guys need to be clean shaven? Do ladies need their hair pulled back? If you don’t want to impose such strict conditions, it’s still a good idea to remind them the hair needs to be professional.
Tattoos: Is it okay for them to show, or do you want them covered up? Some employees don’t know until they’re told.
Clothing: Do you have a company uniform, t-shirt or polo shirt for the show? If not, give everyone an appropriate dress code. It’s not going to hurt anyone!
Jewelry: Piercings? It’s up to you, but everyone needs to know where you stand on them for the trade show.
Remember, the trade show is about getting new clients, making new contacts and moving prospects further down the pipeline. It may also be the only time during the year that you get to meet with existing clients who aren’t in your local area. These are the things that everyone who will staffing your booth needs to understand. For more tips on making a great impression at your next trade show, please follow our Houston trade show blog.
