Create a welcoming, comfortable environment.
Once you have made introductions and welcomed your visitors into your booth – what next? Are you providing a hospitality area where your guests can sit and relax and talk business with you? Whether your booth is small or large, a nice welcoming environment is a plus! We all know how tiring it is after a few hours or a few days of seeing all that a show has to offer. The last thing you want is for your guests to grab and go. Your goal should be to make them feel comfortable so they’ll stay awhile! Upgrade your standard furniture with comfortable chairs, couches, barstools and tables. Another way to make your booth inviting is by providing engaging multi-touch displays or have laptops available which showcase your products via cool technology, animation or video. This will give your guests a hands-on, relaxing experience while sipping cocktails or conversing with your booth staff.
Make hospitality personal to your brand.
Anyone can serve water or cocktails at their booth, but it’s easy to lose your brand by going too generic. The goal is to tie your brand and hospitality together so attendees can easily make the connection and remember you after the show. Offer a signature drink that can easily be branded. For instance, if your logo colors are green, serve a drink that has the same tint as your logo. It will not only start conversation, but will be remembered. (See tip #3). Offer cookies, chocolates or hors d’oeuvres. If your hospitality budget is low, it’s easy to tie in your brand through simple but meaningful ways. For example, a Texas company at OTC always has a large outside presence. In the Texas heat, their guests are provided bottled water with custom labels showcasing their logo and product images as they sit at these bistro tables provided by ESN. Our creative team can design custom labels at a fraction of the cost of other booth service providers.
Always follow up with attendees after the event.
When you invite guests to your home, you thank them for coming. The etiquette also goes for your attendee guests. After the event, send out ‘thank you’ emails. Add a warm touch by including elements from your booth that would reconnect them to the experience—for example, the recipe from your signature cocktail, a link to photos taken in the booth, or some other nice gesture that benefits them. Invite them to engage with you on social media or subscribe to your company blog. Then provide contact information should they want to touch base. It’s the little things like this that will set you apart.
