It’s not every day that what many people consider to be the greatest trade show on earth announces it will no longer be an annual event, but that day has come. It looks as if the extremely popular Macworld Expo will no longer be pleasing Mac fanatics every year. The official word on the trade show is that it is currently on hiatus. Is this going to be a permanent hiatus? Only time will tell.
A Little History On the Event
The Macworld Expo started way back in 1985. The first trade show took place in San Francisco where it stayed for over ten years. There was also a summer version of the trade show that took place in New York from 1998 until 2003. You have to remember that these were the days before the Internet. Information was not so easily gathered and shared. The trade show was the one place where Mac lovers could get the latest scoop on products that were coming down the line.
For those lucky enough to attend the famous trade show in the early days, the rewards were often piled three feet off the ground. It wasn’t unusual to leave the event with tons of marketing materials, software and even the occasional piece of hardware as well. It was almost like Christmas morning for those lucky attendees.
Meet and Greet Other Like Minded Individuals
Not only was the show a great place to get some free swag and learn about the great new products that would inevitably wind up changing our lives in the not so distant future, but this was the single opportunity to mingle with other Mac users who were equally in love with every product available. People made new friends, they bonded and walked away from the trade show with huge smiles plastered across their faces.
The Famous Opening Keynotes
One the greatest attractions of this particular trade show was always the keynote speeches. This was like the rock concert for Mac lovers. They waited on every word, especially when those words were coming from the iconic Steve Jobs. It wasn’t unusual to see a few surprise celebrity appearances either.
A Recipe for Success
Anyone who was lucky enough to attend any one of the spectacular Macworld Expo events would have learned a ton. This was one trade show that had a winning recipe for success that any business could take some much needed inspiration from. The trade show brought together a group of people who shared a common interest. The trade show attendees were there for the content of the show and every single one of them left happy. Does your trade show display accomplish this? It’s definitely worth thinking about.
