Often, our Houston trade show clients ask us what the hot trends in promotional items are. Since we have helped companies all over the world set up their trade show booths, we have seen pretty much everything – but as is the case with many things in life, you can’t go wrong with the classics when it comes to trade show promotional products. Here are some of the home run hits when it comes to trade show swag.
Drinkware: An American Marketing Association survey in 2013 revealed that drinkware is one of the most popular promotional product categories. In fact, drinkware accounts for 19% of the market share for the most effective promotional product tools. That may not seem like much, but when you consider that there were dozens of categories, and many scored considerably less than 19%, it is significant. Consider promotional mugs, travel mugs, or even plastic cups when putting together your trade show swag.
Apparel: No, people aren’t tired of t-shirts! Regardless, outerwear only takes 6% of market share when it comes to promotional items at tradeshows. You can fill the demand for t-shirts by having some printed up before your next event – unless, that is, you decide to have caps or other headwear made, which accounts for 11% of the most memorable promotional items received at trade shows. One fun alternative to baseball caps is ski caps and beanies, which are popular with youth-oriented audiences.
Pens: Okay, we saved the best for last! The American Marketing Association found that writing instruments make up a whopping 35% of the promotional products that people most often remember receiving. They are only second the wearables when it comes to the recall factor – and you definitely want the recall factor to work in your favor. Plus, pens are perfect for the business on a budget.
Of course, we have also seen many Houston trade show participants score big with more unusual items. We’ll address those another time, though. To talk with us about your trade show display booth, contact Exhibitor’s Service Network as you begin to plan your next event.
